We’re guessing Soul Calibur 6.
Update: The Witcher’s official Twitter account is teasing an announcement to come tomorrow, March 15.
“Kaer Morhen’s old stones have witnessed many battles… Once more they’ll feel the sting of sparks as blades collide… Check back tomorrow,” the tweet reads.
While it’s unclear if this announcement will be related to Marcin Momot’s tease earlier this month, there is the possibility CD Projekt Red will reveal which game Geralt is set to cameo in. For our thoughts on what that game might be, check out the conversation below.
Original story follows:
CD Projekt Red has hinted that The Witcher’s lead character, Geralt of Rivia could be about to make an appearance in another game, coming this year.
Community manager, Marcin Momot dropped the hint on Twitter today – the inevitable question being: “OK, what game will he be in then?”
The smart money seems to be on Bandai Namco’s Soul Calibur 6. That makes sense for several reasons: Bandai Namco and CD Projekt already have a relationship, Soul Calibur has an ongoing love affair with guest characters, Soul Calibur 6 is arriving this year and, most importantly, Geralt likes using big swords.
Other popular guesses have included Monster Hunter World (another guest-friendly series), Injustice 2, and the increasingly strange crossover machine, Final Fantasy XV on PC. Technically, only FFXV would be an “upcoming” game, however – and even that’s something of a stretch.
Whatever game he appears in, it may be the only way we get more Geralt, as CD Projekt says it’s finished with his story in the Witcher universe. On a more practical level, the developer’s hard at work on a very different franchise right now – Cyberpunk 2077 is apparently more ambitious than The Witcher 3.
